Who we are

Dereck Davis Photography and Videography ("we" or "us") is a wedding photography and videography studio based in Southern California. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

It covers our website, dereckdavisphotography.com, our Instagram and Facebook pages, our ads and forms, and the services we provide to couples.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you inquire, apply for a model call, book a consultation or hire us, you may share:

Your name, email address and phone number
Your wedding date, venue, city and plans
Details you share in messages, questionnaires and consultations
Billing details for invoices and payments. Card payments are processed by Square, and we never see or store your full card number.

Information from platforms we use. If you fill out a form in one of our Instagram or Facebook ads, Meta sends us your answers. If you contact us through Zola, Calendly, Instagram or Facebook, we receive the details you share there.

Photos and video. When we photograph or film your session or wedding, we create images and footage of you and your guests.

Website information. Our website and its hosting provider may use cookies and similar tools to keep the site working and to understand how visitors use it.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

Reply to your inquiry and check your date
Review model call applications and contact the couples we select
Schedule consultations and sessions
Plan, capture and deliver your photos and films
Send invoices, reminders and receipts
Send occasional updates and offers about our services, which you can opt out of anytime
Show our ads to people who have interacted with our pages, using Meta's advertising tools
Meet our legal, tax and accounting duties

Photos and video. We may feature images and film from your session or wedding in our portfolio, website, ads and social media when your contract or model call application allows it. Ask us anytime and we'll stop featuring your images going forward.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the people and services that help us run our business:

Associate photographers and videographers who help cover your event
Tools we use for payments, scheduling, email, file delivery and forms, such as Square, Calendly, Google, Dropbox, Jotform and Zola
Meta, when you interact with our Instagram or Facebook ads, forms or messages. Some messages sent to our pages may be answered by Meta's automated assistant.
Government authorities, when the law requires it

Each of these services handles your information under its own privacy policy.

Your choices

Emails: use the unsubscribe link, or reply and ask us to stop.
Texts: reply STOP to any text and we'll stop texting you. Message and data rates may apply.
Access, changes and deletion: email us to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. We may keep some records when the law or an active contract requires it.

California residents. We don't share your personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing. Our website doesn't currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals. When you visit our site or interact with our ads, third parties such as Meta may collect information about your online activity over time and across websites.

Other details

Keeping your information. We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, for our legal and tax records, or as your contract describes. Gallery and file download links may expire after a set time.

Security. We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of storage or transfer is completely secure.

Children. Our services are for adults planning weddings. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our website or forms.

Changes. If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
